Stakeholder Group on Oil & Gas Management
The Stakeholder Group on Oil and Gas Management was developed to provide feedback to the N.C. Mining and Energy Commission and the Environmental Management Commission. The group of representatives from state and local government agencies, the energy industry, environmental groups, scientists and landowners will provide feedback to the Mining and Energy Commission and the Environmental Management Commission on specific topics related to oil and gas management, as requested by either commission.
Members of the Stakeholder Group were invited by DENR staff from various organizations. Those organizations nominated staff from within their groups. The Clean Energy and Economic Security Act, ratified in July 2012, encouraged the Commissions and DENR to develop rules in an open and collaborative process that includes consultation from several organizations, and DENR staff chose organizations from those listed in the Act as a starting point for the stakeholder group.
